Who needs life insurance?

Although life insurance is one of the smartest and most important investments for anyone, especially people with others who depend on them, there are a lot of misconceptions regarding various life insurance policy variants and options. Some people are still not sure exactly how life insurance works, and what are the differences between the types and kinds of insurance.

One of the main misconceptions is that life insurance is only good for paying the burial costs in case of the policy holder’s death. While the monetary compensation that the insurance policy will pay out to the family or other beneficiaries can in fact be used to cover the burial expenses, this is not the main purpose of life insurance. The main reason why you should get your life insured and covered under a life insurance policy is that, in case of your passing, the money that the life insurance house will pay out to the beneficiaries of your choosing can go a long way to replace your income. Think about it – your loved ones probably depend on you to provide for them, and if you are gone there would be no one to do so. The pain that your death would cause them is almost too much on it’s own, and not knowing how they will be able to make end’s meet on top of that would truly be unbearable for your spouse and children. If you have a family, especially if your wife has decided to stay home and raise the kids, you should certainly set up some sort of protection for them in case you are gone, and getting a life insurance policy is the best way to accomplish that.

If you are young and single and have no one that depends on you, you might think that there’s no need to get life insurance. But chances are, you will start a family sooner than you think, and starting to accumulate those premiums early would certainly add up, and provide much greater coverage and level of security for your wife and kids, once you happen to have them. So it’s never to early to start thinking about your future.

On the other hand, parents who stay at home full time often think that the need for life insurance doesn’t really apply to them, and that they even are not eligible for life insurance, on account of the fact that they are not earning wages. This is far from truth, since they do in fact work – just think how much the tasks any stay at home mom or dad performs 24/7 would cost if you would hire someone to do them. And if the stay at home parent would suddenly die, that’s exactly what the one that remains would have to do – they would need to hire housekeepers, maids, and a variety of other professionals, from cooks to personal finance manages. Having a life insurance policy set up means that there would be enough money to do that.
